Welcome to HADB (aka HAMSTeRS) as of January 2010.
The most recent change has been a move of the site from Medical Research Council hosting to an independent site, coincident with Dr Kemball-Cook's
move from the MRC. Other than that, the site is identical.
The haemophila A mutation records in HADB have been steadily updated over the last few years. The job has got tougher, partly due to lack of time but also to the tendency for very large lists to be published. However I (GKC) am committed to continuing this important job. Currently mutations published or submitted to me directly up to mid-2005 are on the database, and I have a waiting list. Users are still most welcome to submit unpublished lists, or ensure that I am aware of new publications.
The hot news in structure function terms is the recent (2008) publication of two structures for B-domainless FVIII, from the Barry Stoddard and Bruce Furie groups.
1. Blood. 2008 Feb 1;111(3):1240-7. The tertiary structure and domain organization of coagulation factor VIII.
Shen BW, Spiegel PC, Chang CH, Huh JW, Lee JS, Kim J, Kim YH, Stoddard BL. Program in Molecular Biophysics, Structure and Design, Division of Basic Sciences, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, WA, USA.

2. Structure. 2008 Apr;16(4):597-606. Crystal Structure of Human Factor VIII: Implications for the Formation of the Factor IXa-Factor VIIIa Complex. Ngo JC, Huang M, Roth DA, Furie BC, Furie B. Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, MA 02543, USA. Go here for PDF.
The Download Centre
was added in 2003. From here you can either view all the usual mutation webfiles OR download Excel spreadsheet
versions which you can then configure or sort as you please.
If you have any new ideas
or see something useful at another site that we should include
then please send us an e-mail.
